  1. Hi Sapna ji,

Today exactly …exactly the same happened to me, i made a list of work to do and thought to stick to it.I had calls ,i shifted to see mails and messages,i was writing my article in between i saw my lonely guitar lying at edge of the wall and started playing for half an hour….Than i lost some time watching others blog.. Ogod .I tell you this time according to my work list i should write a article and was writing it to but again stoped it and searching others blog to see what is the new update.
I can understand a blogger have alot of things to do but working all the time without distraction is little impossible but yes time managment can solve this.

K Now let me complete my story with your last point as i am thinking to stick to my work to do list from tomorrow ..Lol….

    Thank You

Yes we all new bloggers face this type of issue, we try to do multitasking and that really take more time then we expect and most of the times we get struck up. At times I infact forget the last task which I have been working on.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

A lot of bloggers are still struggling with everything you said on this post and right now, I’m going to do other of my work :)

  7. Hi Sapna,

    Great infographic as always.

Yes, this used to happen to me. I am easily distracted by the emails and social media stuff and at the end of the day, I haven’t achieved anything plus all the distractions from my kids.

But I decided to close all channels when I am working and started to prioritize my tasks and do the most important ones while the kids are in school and leave the least important ones till night time when they are sleeping.

Thanks for such a real-life manifestation of a naive blogger. Love it!

  8. Cute infographic Sapna,

I don’t get distracted because I have a list of what needs to be done everyday and I make sure that I focus on that list more then play around online. I won’t answer the phone if I’m in the middle of something and I don’t keep Facebook open to just chat with everyone.

I’m actually not on the social sites like a lot of people that much. I only get on a few times a day and respond to people or strike up a conversation. I have way too many other things to do besides that.

I do know a lot of people like this though so you’re right. It happens way more then it should. Hope this was a wake up call for many.

  10. Hi Sapna, I actually am very good at completing lists of tasks. I usually bribe myself with a reward not only at the end but at key points within the list. It is a real incentive to get the work done as it is so easy to get distracted when you work from home.

  13. Hi Sapna,

I’d like how you improve your infographics over time and they are getting better and better dear :)

Well, I’d say there are many busy folks out there than president though ;) As I’ve heard of some, they comes from a poor family and get neglected but touch the Sky at the end in hard way.

Anyway, on top of all, I believe the one who loves what they do never force him/her to do anything though :) Actually I’ve heard that people who wanna earn money spend all time and effort by getting himself to the maximum motivation level but finally health is bad, no one there and life is like mess. We gotta decide what’s the best for us and if we feel the thing we do is tough than love, then there’s a problem too, no Spana? :)

Have a GREAT weekend ahead dear :)

It can be so easy to get distracted if you are not careful, I think we are all guilty of it at some stage, I used to spend way too long checking emails and social media sites but now I switch off from all that in order to complete the tasks on my daily list, I do check my emails first thing and later on in the day, then it is down to my list. I limit myself the time I spend on Social sites and Forums, it is so easy to lose a few hours in these sites and the day is over and you have not finished all you wanted to achieve!

  18. Sapna: Very funny except that this is to true. How do I practice tax law and do some of these other most important things. Sometimes, it just “Step Away From Social Media.” It is a very hard balancing act with no set formula. I guess keeping to your schedule and tasks required is the only way to go.

    • HI Steve

      Welcome to my blog.
You have used Right terminology – it’s hard balancing act, but at times it becomes very difficult following the schedule and most of us waste time on the most unproductive work. I have been through this many times and I feel it has become a part and parcel of naive bloggers life to adhere to these distractions.

I’m trying my best to possibly reduce those and then gradually improve.

  21. Hey Sapna, regardless of what ANYONE tells you, we ALL started like this (if not worse).

Learning how to manage your time and be as productive as possible without interruptions from the Internet is almost impossible in the beginning and this happens only because there’s a habit in what we do on our computers.

For people that used to work with computers when there was no internet (or at least when it wasn’t available to the public) you had no distractions unless you wanted to play games or do something else besides work.

With today’s technology you can play, listen to music, watch shows, communicate with others, it’s almost impossible that you can get some work done on the same device you use for entertainment.

Having said that, the more you are aware that you can be more productive than what you already are, the less distracted you’ll get.

There are a ton of applications and strategies that can measure your productivity based on your given metrics and what you use your computer for.

I use RescueTime for this and you can google for the Pomodoro technique too.

If you combine this app and this technique with an organized plan, there’s no way you can get distracted.

All the best and good luck Sapna! ;-)

exactly right! So much to do and not enough hours. Especially when family is not supportive and still have one or two “hamster wheel” jobs to run. You see, we still have to work for living (as of yet). The grip of the matrix is very powerful. It needs momentum to let go.

The sure way to fail is to give up. So, despite of the stress and unaccomplished to do list, we must keep going. Thank you, Sapna! I really enjoyed reading ths story.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

  24. Hi Sapna, I admit that I recognized myself a bit in this. It is truly amazing how much time you can waste in social media. Best to stay focused no matter how difficult that may be!

Carolyn recently posted..Best Apps for Successful Students! My Profile (dofollow)

  25. Hi Sapna

I agree with Sergio, we are probably all guilty of wasting enormous amounts of time when we first start out on what doesn’t serve us well.

Some days are easier to stay focused than others. Not side tracked by Facebook or Twitter, but gave up worrying about the stats for now. Spent too much time keeping records of stuff and never getting other things moving in the right direction. I know a lot of stuff is important, but there is not 40 hours in a day, so something has to give.

So I have narrowed it down to three things to stay focused on for the majority of my time. At least now at the end of the week I can see a big difference. If the week has not as a whole gone as well as hoped, I just step it up in the weak direction.

Thanks for the fun graphic…it will be a reminder to accomplish something each day.

My main distraction is my kids! But that’s the way it should be as a stay at home dad so it’s ok. I just have to work around it.

I don’t get distracted easily because I will put my phone on silent and let family members know that I am at work. Like most people, I have a list of what needs to be done everyday. I cross out those that I cannot finish and carry forward to another day. I also tweak the tasks as I go to make sure that they are ‘challenging’ but not ‘impossible’ tasks.
