USA(Uncle Sam) Or UK(United Kingdom) Which Is Better?

When it comes to Business Ideas and the Product Development, I feel USA is far ahead of the competition. The Companies here have developed the products which are world renowned and are used in our daily life. Drop out From the World famous Universities own the best of the companies and they employ the degree holders as their employees.

Also They have the best Military in the world and how best they are, the infographic depicts that.

  2. Sapna as an American citizen who loves his country. I appreciate all the love you showed for both countries, however I do feel like the graphics are a little skewed in the USA’s favor. I have never been to the UK or India, but I am sure the UK has many things to offer.

I understand you are just giving us grounds to communicate. However, I think I do not have enough info to decide who is better.

  3. Interesting comparison, but I too think it is little skewed towards USA’s favor. What about number of Nobel Prize laureates per capita? it is 18.875 per 10 million for UK and 10.731 per 10 million for UK.

  4. Very interesting comparisons Sapna but I’m not sure I agree with you on #3 anymore. It may be a tie or UK the way our country (US) is in so much debt. #4 I’m not sure so can’t really comment. #8 is an irony and sometimes I think they are money factories (Universties).

  5. Hi Sapna

Never been to the UK, but they do have a queen, oops, that was not part of the list! lol

I live in the US but I am from Canada. Canada keeps a low profile which is probably smart. Anyways, you are absolutely right about # 8. Multi-million dollar companies run by university drop outs. Maybe that is the course one needs to take to become wealthy!

    Interesting infographic.

I guess you must have done your research pretty well to know which of the two country is good in what area and they must be true too. And those living either in the US or UK would be able to better talk about it. However, I feel that our country too is picking up pretty well in many areas now, though in many places it still needs to learn a lot from these countries.

I guess the professionalism is lacking in many areas in our place, something that we can learn from both of these countries – isn’t it?

      • Points 4 and 6 should be given razzies, not trophies. Rather an enjoyable infographic though! I’m completely with you though on the US of A. I can’t think of anything that’s come out of the UK that’s worth a mention. In fact their economy has been tethering on recession…oh wait.. double-dip recession for a few years now, and if the Daily mail is to be believed, they are smack in the middle of a triple-dip recession. So they should be losing hands down.
And UK can also collect a couple of trophies/razzies for binge drinking and sloth, a.k.a living on benefits.

  8. Both country is good! But the truth is USA is the leader of the world in almost any sector. All country is depending on USA in many sector directly or indirectly.

But I am an American who lived in the UK for several years and I returned to the USA recently . I was not happy living in the UK; the first year or two I really tried to make it work but I just couldn’t stand it. Another amazing inforgraphic.

To answer your question, I’ve never being in either of the two countries before but i think the infographic has already answered that.

The one i will so much agree with it the fact that most re-known companies in the US today are being owned by university dropouts who then employed the university degree holders to work for them.

Thanks a lot for sharing yet another interesting infographic with you Sapna, really enjoying it.

  14. Hi Sapna,

    I loved your infographic!

It got me thinking about the trend of university dropouts in the States, who go on to lead the most successful of companies. As you say, those with the degrees then end of working for them! It’s interesting how this happens. I really do love America! I find the people there to be very welcoming.

India is also getting better and improving all the time.

  18. Hi Sapna,

Interesting comparison here and I hope you gonna compare other attributes in future posts too :) Wealth is not about money alone, no?

Well, I’ll be bit biased here, but neither for US or UK ;)

I can see it’s most about business perspectives and the economy :) They are far ahead when it comes to that aspect for sure. I know, as developed countries they have lot to offer. I’ve heard from my US friends few months ago that US is going through debts and has economic crisis though we find they are not so. I can’t say exactly as I don’t know much about it.

Both countries are following individualistic nature. They say, Time is money :) We have lot to learn (NOT FOLLOW) from ‘em but without killing our cultures and customs. You can see how westerns are now seeking meditation and all that about peaceful mind, right? :)

I can see Asia growing like never before with the economy and expanding their domination, but again I see we are exposed to threats too. Many and many disorders that we never had, unhealthy foods, forget our values, being disrespectful to women and children, ignoring mother tongue or mixed with English and so on. It’s our fault :)

    Cheers…

  19. I have been to both countries and both and have their good and bads as far as India is concerned. If you want to do business, then USA beats UK hands down all the way. In the UK people are courteous and not as hectic as the USA. At the moment, David Cameron was in India trying to get business for this country as its in poor shape. But all in all, USA is where is the money is. If are looking for culture and history, you must visit UK.

  20. Hi Sapna,

Although this is a really cute infographic I’m not sure I totally 100% agree either. I mean I am an American citizen born and raised here so I am rather prejudice. Unfortunately our country has a LOT of issues and #3 is the perfect example.

We are in debt trillions of dollars so our government has the nerve to place blame on Americans that don’t spend their money well when they are the example people go by. They should be ashamed of themselves.

We may have good universities but the people who chose to drop out and are now billionaires did that because they felt their ideas and discoveries would serve better use and they didn’t need that college degree. I’m sure the UK has just as many wonderful schools.

I agree with you about the Beatles although we do have some awesome bands here.

I think it’s a matter of opinion actually and since I’ve never been to the UK I can’t really say. Great job on the infographic though.

Do you really want me to answer this question? I don’t think so if not you would have presented basis for comparison. But as always, I simply love your infographics as they give me a good laugh!

But this irony is something we must think about, why is it that more drop outs from American Universities become millionaires while those who have all the education become employees of these millionaires? I think it is something we can seek to find a solution to right?

And then this one, why is it that the UK has the best football league in the world but we do not have best footballers from that country? Another irony? Then we must unravel it also.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Just thinking….

Anyway, the idea is good and original, answers are not biased and state the facts (i think). Being in US for the past several years, I would like to support it, but wouldnt care less of the other.

Obviously as Brit I’m a bit biased, but what about Tim Berners-Lee, our national hero who apparently invented the world wide web – I think we should get points for that.

Mind you, I share Chadrack’s bafflement as to why we have the best football league in the world but apparently some of the worst player and a hopeless national side – watching England play football is agony.

Laughter aside, I think Mayura makes some really good points – money and success aren’t everything. And, to be honest, I’m not really one for flag-waving nationalism – it’s been the cause of too many wars.

      Sapna

  33. Sapna, great article, I enjoyed it :) One thing to consider going against the USA in my opinion (as an American) is how expensive lawsuits are and how screwed up the legal system is. My understanding is that in the UK if someone sues you and they lose, they must pay your legal tab, not so in the USA. So you could innovate and be sued here and WIN but STILL pay for your defense attorneys. This is wrong. The USA is trying to pass a law that would require patent trolls that lose to pay the legal tabs on both sides of the table. I think this is a great idea.

On the other hand, one thing going for the USA that Europe suffers from is labor laws. In most of the USA we have “at-will” employment which basically means that an employee knows what they are getting themselves into by working for an employer and can leave at any time and the employer can get rid of the employee at any time. The labor laws of the USA are great for start ups (less risk). My understanding is that in Europe start ups really suffer from the overwhelming labor responsibilities they must deal with. This hurts small companies with little capital from starting in Europe and why I think start ups in the USA are more common (there is less risk if they fail). And this helped all those tech companies you mentioned above. This is why the USA has so many companies that start in their garage (cottage industry) and then grow into major corporations.

I’m not an authority on labor laws, so won’t be able to add to your valuable comment. But what I can surely add to the discussion – that people who have the will to succeed overcome all odds, come whatever may and all most of the owners of great corporates have done that time and again.
